Ebeye
Ebeye is a one of the most densely populated island communities in the world, on Kwajalein Lagoon, one of the largest lagoons in the world.
Ebeye’s homes, schools, churches and businesses are concentrated on a narrow strip of land between lagoon and ocean. Ebeye, with aroudn 10,000 people is the second largest main Marshallese population centre, with close family and employment links to the nearby U.S. Army Garrison Kwajalein Atoll. Space on Ebeye is limited and the shoreline is never far away. Daily life unfolds through crowded streets, community gatherings and the constant movement of people and boats. These photographs explore Ebeye through its people, built environment and close relationship with the sea.
