Utrik is a small and remote community in the northern Marshall Islands, where daily life remains closely connected to the reef and ocean. Fishing and copra production continue alongside the church, community facilities and assistance provided through international partnerships. I visited Utrik while working from the MV Indies Surveyor, which served as our base during an outer-island mission. These photographs record the village, the people and some of the practical realities of life far from Majuro.
